Medicare A covers inpatient care in hospital, nursing home care, following spitalization of at least 3 days, hospice service, and 80% of medical equipment. It does not pay for private duty nurses, private rooms in hospitals or nursing homes unless it is medically necessary. Medicare B covers doctor's visits, diagnostic tests, services of psychologists, chiropractors, podiatrists, optometrists, outpatient therapy service, dental work, resulting from an accident, or disease, medical supply, ambulance service. Medicare D pays for prescriptions only. Veteran's benefits can provide some assistance with financing.
